The Preamble to the Constitution
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Our Constitution is written so that our country doesn't give all the power to one
person or group. So, we have something called the:
SEPARATION OF POWERS.
This Separation (or DIVIDING UP THE POWER), created 3 Branches of Government.
Each branch has certain powers, but none of the branches has ALL the power.
Each branch checks up on the other branches. This is called
THE SYSTEM OF CHECKS AND BALANCES
person or group. So, we have something called the:
