     DECIMALS:
Decimals are another way to show parts of a whole.
Like Fractions, decimals are just parts of whole numbers.

STUFF YA' GOTTA KNOW ABOUT DECIMALS:

First of all, when you see the period in a decimal number, that period is called POINT.  So when you see the number .5, you read it like this, "Point five."

Example:  If you have .6 (point 6) of a pizza left, that means that in a 10 slice pizza, you have 6 pieces left.

You can make a fraction into a decimal and a decimal into a fraction!  COOL, HUH?
Let's take the pizza example.....
.6 of a pizza equals 6 out of 10 pieces left.  6 out of 10 can also be written 6/1
0.

Just like whole numbers, decimals have place value too.

This chart shows you the values.......REMEMBER, the closer the decimal number is to the decimal point, the larger the decimal number. So, .5 is bigger than .05.
